About the workThis vase is the product of a remarkable encounter. In 1981, Andries Dirk Copier visited the Venetian glassmaker Lino Tagliapietra at his glassworks in Murano, and together they created a series of vases. Copier was a designer at the Leerdam glass factory in the Netherlands and had been gaining experience with working in collaborative dialogue at the furnace since around 1923. Tagliapietra held the rank of “glass master” (“maestro vetraio”) in Venice. The workshop made such a profound impression on Tagliapietra that he henceforth aspired to create artistic sculptural designs, which went on to make him world famous.
