About the workThe vase was created at a time when mechanisation was replacing mouth-blowing. It was blown into a wooden mould to give it a technical shape, as it were, and then freely shaped. These vases are therefore available in different proportions. The combination of industrial design and craftsmanship earned the design by Milanese architect and designer Sergio Asti the most important Italian design award, the “Compasso d’Oro”, in 1962. The vase is still produced by the Salviati glass company today, but this version dates from the early days.
