About the workWas the small thorn in the vase intentional or a coincidence? In any case, it gives the simple outline character, like a beauty mark on the face. Allowing such a possible initial mishap in glassmaking would suit the graphic designer and illustrator Fulvio Bianconi, who worked for the Venini glassworks from 1946 and introduced a playful element into their programme. The production and assembly of the colourful glass discs, which were laid out and fused together like a mosaic for the vase, was a Venetian speciality.
