About the workA kind of music you hear with your eyes and your heart – this is how Yoichi Ohira described his fascination with glass, which he discovered when he was 20 years old. He spent a year learning how to make glass in Japan before beginning his art studies in Venice in 1973. From the start of his studies until 2010, he collaborated with glassworks in Murano to achieve outstanding results. The techniques are Venetian, but the elaboration in each individual work is Ohira’s doing. He also always signed the works with the names of the glassmakers who realised his designs.
