About the workAs the title in the drawn base under the female figure reveals, this work shows Comitas, a pictorial representation of friendship. She also embodies the qualities of friendliness and openness. The figure comes from a room in the Vatican in Rome, where it can be seen at the edge of a wall painting with scenes from the life of Emperor Constantine. These paintings were created by the painter Raphael and his workshop. This highly accurate copy was made by an unknown draughtsman in front of the original depiction in Rome.
