About the workA demonstration without a cause? Düsseldorf-based artist Jody Korbach used the painting "Wo stehst Du mit Deiner Kunst, Kollege?" (Where Do You Stand With Your Art, Comrade?) by Jörg Immendorff – who was also working in Düsseldorf at the time of its creation in 1973 – as the model for this piece. In his art, Immendorff addressed social injustices and called for political action. Korbach adopted the motif but left the flags and banners blank. Her composition is painted on beer tokens. It remains unclear what has replaced earlier political ideas; a possible answer lies in the ironic title.
