About the workThe reduced form of a kitchen roll – Swiss-born Ulrich Meister placed the everyday at the centre of his work. He devoted himself to ordinary, little-noticed objects by removing them from their surroundings. Schematically, with clear and restrained means, the artist, who has lived in Düsseldorf since 1967, explored their linear movement and appearance from changing perspectives. He was less interested in the object itself than in the question of how it stands out from other objects. How does a roll of kitchen paper differ from a roll of toilet paper?
