About the workA figure sits smoking in front of a curtain. A slit allows a view through the window onto a picturesque landscape. Anton Henning from Berlin often combines different genres of painting in his works, which here are spatially and stylistically differentiated from one another. In addition to the backdrop of an interior, which is characteristic of the artist, the tangled structure of lines, the so-called Hennling, is a recurring motif. It appears here as an abstract figure, humorously subverting the eroticism commonly associated with pin-up girls.
