About the workThe body imprint of an invisible wearer can be sensed in this fragile ball gown. Since 1999, the artist has been working with colourless glass in a multi-layered process of moulds and casts. In 2012-2015, she developed her own dark-coloured glass with technologists in Germany. She uses it to create female figurations of the night, which she calls “Nocturnes”, modelled on musical compositions: “somber, seductive and inscrutable”. Karen LaMonte was awarded the Jutta Cuny-Franz Memorial Award at the Kunstpalast in 2007.
