About the workA helpful guide or a path to confusion? Road signs are official symbols and serve a clear purpose: they point the way, direct traffic and compel decisions. The American artist Allan D’Arcangelo removes the signs from their practical context and elevates them to independent visual motifs. As a result, they no longer point to a specific destination but become the subject of contemplation themselves. What was once a seemingly clear instruction becomes a symbol for the search for orientation beyond the traffic guidance system.
